The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) had been dealing with an issue of isolators being either stuck at a semi-open or a semi-closed position. This occurred due to the inevitable wear and tear of the operating mechanism. Frequent flashovers were caused due to the isolator being stuck, hence resulting in circuit tripping.
Reliability of the system is of utmost importance to any utility dealing with public transportation, and Delhi Metro being the lifeline of the city – they couldn’t let this issue hamper their operations.
We designed the mechanism of the switch on the principle of a toggle mechanism. The switch will either be completely open or completely closed, independent of the operator or the wear and tear.
This completely eliminated the issue faced by Delhi Metro, resulting in increased reliability of their electrical system.
